Instructions

  1. Set oven to 350 degrees.
  2. For the topping: combine all ingredients; set aside.
  3. To make the cake: in a large bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
  4. Add in the butter or margarine (if using) and milk; beat at high speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Add in eggs; beat for another 2 minutes more.
  6. Spread batter in a greased 9-inch square baking pan.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped apples on top of the batter.
  8. Then sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
