Instructions

  1. In a greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish, layer half of the sweet potatoes and apples.
  2. Combine brown sugar, nutmeg, allspice, salt, pepper, and walnuts (if desired); sprinkle half over apples.
  3. Dot with half the butter.
  4. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover and bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
  6. Baste with pan juice.
  7. Bake, uncovered, 15 minutes longer or until apples are tender.
