Instructions

  1. Combine 2 c water and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
  2. Stirring occasionally, boil for 2 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat; add in the lemon juice, lemon peel and remaining 2 c water.
  4. Cool slightly.
  5. Combine 1 c of the lemon mixture, and the blackberries in a blender.
  6. Blend well; strain the mixture and discard the seeds.
  7. Pour the blackberry and remaining lemon mixture in a pitcher.
  8. Stir well and add food coloring if desired.
  9. Chill and serve over ice.
