Instructions

  1. Add olive oil, minced garlic cloves, and chili flakes to a cold frying pan.
  2. Heat to medium/high. Do NOT brown the garlic!
  3. As soon as the aroma of the garlic and chili flakes begins to escape, add the canned tomatoes, salt and 1/2 the basil.
  4. Bring to a boil.
  5. Add water.
  6. Lower heat and simmer for at least 1 hour.
  7. Reduce sauce by half.
  8. When ready to serve, garnish each plate with leftover fresh basil.
  9. Serve over your favourite pasta shape.
