Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine flour, salt and baking soda, set aside.
  3. Beat together shortening, sugars and vanilla until creamy.
  4. Add eggs until batter is light and fluffy.
  5. Gradually beat in flour mixture and rolled oats.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips.
  7. Drop batter by well rounded spoonfuls onto cookie sheets (parchment paper lined sheets make cleanup easy).
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
  9. Cool cookies on sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  10. Yield is supposed to be 7 1/2 dozen cookies.
