Instructions

  1. Bring the sugar and water to a boil in a heavy medium saucepan over high heat.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium-low.
  3. Simmer, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved, 6 to 8 minutes.
  4. Let cool completely.
  5. Transfer to an airtight container.
  6. Refrigerate until completely chilled, at least 4 hours.
