Instructions

  1. Melt butter and oil in large skillet.
  2. Add onions and cook until softened.
  3. Add mushrooms.
  4. Sprinkle with a dash of salt and pepper.
  5. Cook over low heat stirring occasionally until onions begin to caramelize.
  6. This takes about 45 minutes but is well worth the time.
  7. When done stir in crushed red pepper to taste or omit.
