Instructions

  1. Cream the butter
  2. Add the sugar, egg, and vanilla and mix well
  3. In a separate bowl mix together the flour, almonds, poppy seeds and salt.
  4. Gradually add the to the butter mixture and beat well.
  5. Divide the dough in half and roll into logs.
  6. Roll the logs in colored sugar if desired.
  7. Wrap in wax paper and chill for a few hours.
  8. Preheat oven to 325.
  9. Slice the logs about 1/4 inch thick and bake at 325 for about 12 minutes or until the edges start to brown.
