Instructions

  1. Cream butter and mix in brown sugar, egg and vanilla.
  2. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and salt and blend into butter mixture.
  3. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts (Sometimes I leave these out or substitute pecans.).
  4. Refrigerate until dough is firm.
  5. Preheat oven to 375ºF. Lightly grease baking sheets.
  6. Break off small pieces of dough and roll into 1" rounds. Dredge in powdered sugar.
  7. Arrange on prepared baking sheets at least 2" apart.
  8. Bake 10 minutes.
  9. Cool 5 minutes on the sheets before transferring to racks to cool completely.
  10. Store in airtight container.
