Instructions

  1. Set oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, sugar, water and vanilla.
  3. Beat in the eggs.
  4. Combine flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture; beat just until blended.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  6. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2-inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake for 7-9 minutes (don't overbake).
  8. Cool 2 minutes; remove to wire racks.
