Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, sugar, UNDISSOLVED yeast and salt.
  2. Heat water, milk and butter until very warm (120 to 130 degrees F).
  3. Gradually add to dry ungredients, with the eggs
  4. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally.
  5. Stir in remaining flour to make a STIFF batter.
  6. Spread evenly into a greased 9-inch square baking pan.
  7. Arrange apple slices evenly over batter.
  8. For topping: Combine all ingredients; mix until crumbly.
  9. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over apples.
  10. Cover, let rise in a warm draft-free place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  11. Bake in 375 degree oven, for 35-40 minutes, or until done.
  12. Cool in pan 10 minutes.
  13. Remove from pan; cool on wire rack.
