Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  2. Add and mix until crumbly the brown sugar and shortening.
  3. Reserve 3/4 cup of this mixture.
  4. Add the chopped nuts, baking sode and buttermilk.
  5. Mix enough to blend.
  6. Bake in greased 8x8x2 pan.
  7. Sprinkle with reserved 3/4 cup sugar-shortening crumb mixture and cover lavishly with coconut.
  8. Bake in 350 degree F oven for 50 minutes or finger test for doneness.
